Organic rose geranium hydrosol: the floral water of Grand-Coude, traditionally distilled

Before tea, there was geranium. On the Grand-Coude plateau, at an altitude of 1,100 metres, its leaves have scented the slopes for generations. At Labyrinthe En-Champ-Thé, we carry on the tradition of hand-picking and distilling them in a copper still more than a century old, creating a floral water that is gentle, versatile, and 100% pure.

A natural astringent: tightens pores (combination to oily skin), revives radiant skin, and soothes razor burn or sunburn.

🍰 Cooking & Baking

The island’s signature aroma: an essential ingredient in rose geranium brioche, fruit coulis, panna cotta, and cocktails.

🌿 Relaxation & Unwinding

Spritzed onto the solar plexus or into the air, its enveloping floral fragrance encourages unwinding at the end of the day.

🧺 Home & Linen

As a pillow mist, to refresh curtains, or mixed in equal parts with water for your steam iron.

How to use it to suit your needs

In your skincare routine

  • Toning mist morning & night: mist onto clean skin. Follow with your cream or botanical face oil while skin is still damp to seal in moisture.
  • DIY skincare: substitute water with rose geranium floral water in your clay masks or clarifying toners.
  • Scalp care: spray directly onto roots for an invigorating, clarifying sensation.

In the kitchen: the floral touch of the Highlands

Just a few drops or a delicate mist are all you need:

  • Sweet treats: traditional local brioches péi, macarons, crème brûlée, jams, or sorbets.
  • Savory dishes & marinades: carpaccios or light, fragrant sauces for white fish.
  • Drinks: to scent an iced tea or bring a floral twist to a gin and tonic. (Discover also our [rose geranium iced tea]).

What makes it so unique?

Hydrosol is the floral water collected during steam distillation. Unlike highly concentrated essential oil, hydrosol is gentle: it retains all the water-soluble active molecules and can be used pure, directly on the skin or in culinary dishes.

Bourbon Geranium: this is not the ornamental balcony geranium, but Pelargonium graveolens,, an aromatic plant renowned worldwide for its refined scent.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between hydrosol and essential oil?

Essential oil is highly concentrated and must be diluted. Hydrosol is the distillation water: much gentler, it can be applied neat directly onto the skin or used straight in cooking.

Hydrosol and floral water: are they the same thing?

Yes, they are synonymous terms referring to the aqueous phase obtained from the distillation of aromatic plants.
